Bokaro police successfully intercepted a significant drug smuggling operation at Naya Moad bus stand, seizing 47 kilograms of ganja. The contraband, valued between Rs 5 to 7 lakh, was cleverly concealed within snack packets to evade detection. This timely raid, prompted by intelligence from Bokaro SP, thwarted the drugs' intended journey to Bihar's Ara district.
Bokaro: Police have seized 47 kg of ganja (marijuana) from Naya Moad bus stand under the City police station limits and foiled an alleged attempt to smuggle the contraband into Ara district in Bihar, it said on Monday.“The seized ganja was packed in 47 separate packets and is estimated to be between Rs 5 to 7 lakh. It was being transported in packets of snacks to avoid suspicion during transit,” said Deputy SP City Alok Ranjan.A raid was carried out based on a tip-off by Bokaro SP Nathu Singh Meena which led to the seizure, the police said. Two suspects have been identified and raids are underway to arrest them.“An FIR has been registered at BS City police station under under various sections of the NDPS Act,” Ranjan said.
